Kerala PSC English Grammar : Active and Passive Voice

All of the candidates was familiar with Active and Passive voice in Kerala PSCEnglish Grammar questions. So all of them must study this simple basic grammar to get 1 or more marks from General english question. We simplify this grammar for easy to understand, as a result you will quickly get best answer. For better result, Active voice grammar split into tense basis and some other rules. First of all must read basic english knowledge and previous "Question Tag" lesson. Finally, carefully study all the parts one by one and workout with previous passive voice grammar. Active and Passive Voice

    • Main Rule
      • While converting an active voice into passive voice, firstly divide the sentence as subject, verb and object. Secondly find out the tense of the verb.

Simple Present Tense

If the verb is in 'do/does' form, the sentence is in simple present tense.

      • Object+is/am/are+V3+by+subject+balance  (V3 - Third form of verb) 
Eg:
1) The children /study /English.
  • Subject - The Children
  • Verb - Study
  • Object - English
Answer: English is studied by the children.

Present Continuous

      • Object+is/am/are+being+V3+by+Subject+Balance
Eg:
1) He is reading newspaper.
Newspaper is being read by him.

Present Perfect

      • Object+has/have+been+V3+by+subject+balance
Example:
1) They have broken the windowpanes.
The windowpanes have been broken by them.

Simple Past

      • Object+was/were+V3+by+subject+balance
 Eg:
1) Someone blew the whistle loudly.
The whistle was blown (by someone) loudly.

Past Continuous

      • Object+was/were+being+V3+by+subject+balance 
Eg:
1) They were waiting God.
God was being waited by them.

Past Perfect Tense

      • Object+had+been+V3+by+subject+balance 
Eg:
1) The police had arrested the criminals.
The criminal had been arrested by the police.

Simple Future

      • Object+will/shall+be+V3+by+subject+balance 
Example:
1) I will invite you for my birthday.
You will be invited (by me) for my birthday.

When a Modal Auxiliary Verb Comes

      • Object+Modal Auxiliary Verb+be+V3+by+subject+balance 
Eg:
1) WE must respect our parents.
Our parents must be respected (by us).

Imperative Sentence

Eg:
1) Kill him.
Let he be killed.

For a Sentence Begins with 'Let'
