Malayalam OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software is used to convert scanned or printed documents into fully editable text format in Unicode encoding. The official windows software is named e-Aksharayan and works on Windows 7,8, and 10. It also supports other Indian languages like Hindi, Bangla, Gurmukhi, Tamil, Kannada & Assamese (separate download required). The Malayalam OCR software is free to download and use for anyone. Currently, the software runs only on the windows operation system, Mac OS does not support it.
